You really find out the strength of a team when the only option is to collaborate. The Volkswagen Financial Services All Staff Update - Guiding Lights 2022 - was a live conference for 1200 employees, split into two sessions, over a single live day. We needed to drive home the reinvigorated Volkswagen strategic vision in a punchy and engaging format for every attendee, keeping the energy high, the topics thought provoking, and each session on time so everyone could get home for tea. 

With so many moving parts, the team operated like a well oiled SBS machine, using pretty much every mechanism we had to offer. The onsite team was split into production, content and logistics.

Based at Millbrook Proving Ground, screeching racing cars were the soundtrack to the production team’s setup. The main plenary saw the most traffic, with tiered seating on either side of a central runway, the presentations were projected onto the floor. This doubled up as both the primary arena and one of three breakout spaces. The other two involved an intimate 360 degree presentation space (delivered via silent disco headsets) and an interactive zone buzzing with hands-on activations.

The content team designed and helped deliver presentations whilst supporting interactivity throughout the event with the app we curated. This app also aided the logistics team in managing the flow of hundreds of delegates moving across the three spaces and keeping everything and everyone on time.

We recruited keynote speaker Sam Conniff who brought a new perspective to the agenda opening the main session on how to ‘Be More Pirate’ with his insights on shifting mindsets, a willingness to evolve our thinking, to challenge and be challenged. Weaving in the Pirate Code with company culture and the best methods to get the most out of teams. 

Guiding Lights 2022 brought colleagues from every area of Volkswagen Financial Services together and our collaborative approach meant that they left with a united front, following their North Star of putting the customer at the heart of everything they do.
